Grandma Iny's Cake

So, like all bloggers. I read other people's blogs and one that I have a read a few times before, but didn't think too much about is called thepioneerwoman. However, I do often read smittenkitchen and somehow one day smittenkitchen and the pioneerwoman met up and I was reading about it on smittenkitchen. Well there were some links to some posts, etc about what they had baked and I stumbled across a little recipe with The Pioneer Woman saying you MUST bake this now, so I saved it. And she has a beautiful post here of the recipe.
So, I saved it and read it a few times and to say the least I was intrigued, but it's a recipe for prune cake. And I'm not against prunes, I'm just not for them either. I mean I've had them, they taste fine, but I have no distinct longings one way or another and my husband much like the Marlboro Man (which is the Pioneer Woman's husband) would definitely say they are gross. So, I secretly snuck some prunes into the cart at the grocery store and decided I was going to make it. And let me just tell you, it's delicious. Think carrot cake, but not nearly so rich since there's no cream cheese icing. It's fantastic and of course Jake's eaten half the cake since yesterday and he asked me what are those things? He started guessing, raisins, dates, cherries and I simple responded dried plums. Which is true, right? So, I have officially changed the name from Grandma Iny's Prune Cake to Grandma Iny's Cake, since there's no sense in ruining a good thing right?
